100% TFS Toolkit – Compliance Workshop
"We passed a 100% Tobacco-Free School Policy (or we want to) - how do we make
sure people comply?" is a frequent question asked by school district staff and
local tobacco control advocates. The NC Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch
has designed an in-service training program to provide the answers to this
question and others.
The purpose of this workshop is to help your school district successfully
ensure compliance with a 100% Tobacco-Free school policy
It will benefit school districts that already have
the policy in place and want to improve compliance, as
well as those school districts that are considering
adopting the policy and want more information on effective
compliance strategy planning. Participants will:
-
Analyze potential compliance obstacles and challenges to promoting
compliance to a 100% TFS policy in their school district.
-
Gain techniques for identifying and overcoming compliance obstacles and
challenges.
-
Identify programs and services to support their 100% TFS policy.
-
Learn effective communication strategies to increase awareness among students,
staff and school supporters.
-
Understand the components of a comprehensive policy compliance plan.
Examples of effective communication and compliance strategies from other school
districts that are 100% tobacco-free will be shared in an interactive, 2-hour
session using case studies, group contributions and discussion.
Would you like this workshop to be held in YOUR school district?
This in-service training workshop can take place at your school district for
groups of five or more. Ideally, groups will include a mix of school and
community representatives who will be responsible for addressing policy
communication and enforcement in the school district. These might include
principals, assistant principals, community or media relations staff, school
resource officers, law enforcement officials, student leaders and others. There
is no cost for the workshop and all training materials will be provided.
